TOYOTA SHOULD NOT GET "OVEREXCITED" AFTER FRONT ROW IN WEC QATAR QUALIFYING

- After Nyck de Vries, a recent hire, finished just 0.146 seconds off the lead in the #7

- Toyota GR010 Hybrid during Friday afternoon's Hyperpole qualifying at the Losail International Circuit,

- "We have a very difficult time using tires. It's incredibly hard on this track and with the weight we have here," he remarked.

- "It will be challenging in the competition as well. 

- The good outcome shouldn't cause us to become very excited. The race must be our first concern.

-Prior to the Qatar 1812Km, the first race of the 2024 WEC season, Toyota had trouble keeping up, 

-  with its two LMH cars in particular being held back by tyre graining during the Prologue test.

- With its racing simulation on Thursday, it seemed to be improving, but its final speed was still uncertain.

- That is, until de Vries produced a 1m39.511s flyer to take second place on the grid, just behind Matt Campbell's #5 Porsche, who had won the Daytona 24 Hours.
