Xiaomi Launched New Electric Cars with Wild Speed and 800km Range!

Xiaomi shocks the world by unveiling two insane electric SUVs with superfast acceleration, nearly 800km range, and a host of smart features. Read this in-depth review!

Chinese tech company Xiaomi surprised everyone by showing off their first electric cars – the Xiaomi SU7 and SU7 Max SUVs. These new EVs have some truly crazy speed and range numbers that are making Tesla fans jealous!

In this article, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Xiaomi’s new “super EVs” and what makes them so special. With sports car-like acceleration, nearly 800km of range, and Xiaomi’s latest tech inside, the SU7 models are looking to shake up the electric car world!

SU7 vs SU7 Max: How Do They Compare?

The regular SU7 and high-powered Max model have pretty different specs under the hood. Let’s see how they shape up!

  • Speed Freaks

First, the acceleration. The normal SU7 zips from 0-100km/hr (0-60mph) in just 5.3 seconds. But the beefed up SU7 Max does it almost 3 seconds faster at 2.8 seconds! Getting from a standstill to over 100km/hr that quickly is pure supercar territory.

Most normal SUVs would take 8-9 seconds or more to hit 100km/hr. So even the regular SU7 is pretty quick in a straight line. The Max borders on ridiculous with its sub-3 second sprint time. We’re talking neck-snapping launches when you slam the accelerator!

  • Top Speed Kings

In the top speed department, the SU7 Max also dominates. It can apparently hit a governed 265km/hr max, while the standard model tops out at 210km/hr.

Most electric SUVs cut acceleration off around 180-200km/hr for safety and battery reasons. But nearly 270km/hr would make the Xiaomi one of the fastest production EVs ever made!

  • Insane Range for an SUV

Now for where these electric Xiaomis really shine – their driving range. The standard SU7 is estimated to keep going for 668km (415 miles) on a single charge. That crushes what you’ll see from something like a Tesla Model Y.

Amazingly, the SU7 Max one-ups its sibling by hitting an 800km (497 mile) range! There aren’t many EVs that crack 500 miles regardless of body style. That an electric SUV could potentially drive that far without plugging in is sort of mind-blowing!

Of course these are manufacturer estimates under ideal conditions. But even 70-80% of those ranges in normal driving would still be very competitive.

Smart Tech for Days

Aside from raw speed and range numbers, Xiaomi is packing their SUVs full of technology. Being a consumer electronics company, that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise!

The main one is something Xiaomi calls “HyperOS” – an artificial intelligence system running things behind the scenes. It can apparently handle navigation, media playback, smart home controls, and even autonomous driving functions.

Having AI help out with self-driving tech is a bold claim that not many automakers are making yet. Xiaomi says they tested their autopilot system for over 10 million km. The SUVs use cameras and sensors for what’s called “Adaptive BEV” to see obstacles better.

There’s also a giant 16 inch tablet screen inside with a crazy high resolution. And the digital gauge cluster has comparable visuals to something you’d see on a smartphone. So these things will definitely have some wow factor on the inside!

Final Words

It’s hard not to be impressed by what Xiaomi has revealed so far with their new SU7 and SU7 Max electric SUV models. They seem to offer a tantalizing blend of speed, range, luxury, and technology that could shake up the EV marketplace.

However, since these vehicles aren’t even in production yet, all we have is Xiaomi’s claims and projections to go by. Real world testing may show slightly less spectacular performance and mileage numbers.

Pricing also remains a big question mark – Xiaomi’s CEO says they will be expensive but worth it. How they’ll compare to Models X, Y, 3 and luxury brands cost-wise is TBD.

But if Xiaomi can deliver even close to what they’re promising, Tesla, Audi, Mercedes and others could have a serious new competitor on their hands! The SU7 duo look poised to make major waves when they launch over the next year. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel!
