Swift Edge 16 Design
The Acer Swift Edge 16 resembles a great deal of the previous version of this computer. It is very light, less than 3 lbs, and it is solid to the touch. The keyboard is very nice but after some time the keys may get a bit mushy. The touchpad is large and quite good, overall you’ll get a premium laptop with classy looks.
Swift Edge 16 Display
The Acer Swift Edge 16 display is a 120Hz OLED which is a wonderful display that offers excellent color accuracy, wide color range, and maximum brightness. While it would seem strange that the default out-of-the-box speed of 60Hz refresh rate, a user can go to advanced display settings to achieve 120Hz refresh rate. The 1440p screen offers the user a totally immersive view that has become the benchmark for what one should expect from a laptop.
Swift Edge 16 Performance
The performance of Acer Swift Edge 16 is supported by the Ryzen 7 7840 U CPU, this CPU helps the computer to operate the tasks effectively. However, an interesting characteristic appears when it is compared to other processors that share similar features with it. Geekbench 6 benchmarks are used because of the compatibility concerns with Cinebench R2 although the competitive performance of certain applications such as Photoshop. For light video editing in Premier Pro, this is a light difference, where framework 13 is slightly superior by about 1 edge, which means that there are specific, more detailed differences in some use cases.
Swift Edge 16 Fan Noise
One of the most common noises is due to the consistent presence of a fan noise of the Acer Swift Edge 16. Although running the normal day-to-day operations, the fan still hums with somewhere 40-45 dB. Although it is not very loud the constant noise sounds irritating when contrasted with less noisy alternatives such as Framework 13. However, the obtained temperatures are lower, in effect, the average core clock speeds are significantly lower than its contemporary. This balance between noise and heat regulation creates a dilemma among the users about the ideal balance between performance and noise reduction.
Swift Edge 16 Storage
Swift edge 16 shows a dual-fan system and a copper heat pipe, thick, hence the audible fan noise. The drive on the bottom is removable allowing good read and write speeds, which offers an opportunity to extend storage. The second swappable element is the Wi-Fi 6E card which provides better connectivity. However, the soldered RAM update is not possible which is a disadvantage as user customization is limited.
Swift Edge 16 Battery
On one charge the battery life on the Acer Swift Edge 16 is amazing at 8 hours and 30 minutes backup, making it a companion for longer periods. The bottom-firing speaker not only provides sound, but its quality is far from the best one; the sound is clear, but it does not satisfy the user’s expectations of a good multimedia experience.
