CHICAGO (AP) — The Blackhawks defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Tuesday night after a three-goal, third-period rally that was capped off by Ryan Donato’s team-leading 11th goal with 2:18 remaining in regulation.
For for the second time this season, Donato gave Washington a second straight defeat by skating out of the right corner and putting a shot past Logan Thompson.
With 5:53 remaining in the third period, TJ Brodie made a connection to knot the score at two. To begin the Blackhawks’ comeback from a two-goal deficit, Ilya Mikheyev scored the team’s first short-handed goal of the season 51 seconds into the third. Chicago scored on three of five shots in the third to win its second straight game, led by three assists from Teuvo Teravainen.
