During its inaugural Galaxy Unpacked event for 2025, Samsung teased a new Galaxy S25 series smartphone in addition to the conventional Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra models, giving the company an Apple-inspired “one more thing” moment. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a new smartphone that is expected to join the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup later this year, though Samsung has not yet disclosed when the gadget will go on sale. A Galaxy S25 series handset might potentially launch in the next months, though, as we do not anticipate a wait until next year.

According to Samsung’s brief teaser video, the S25 Edge looks to be a very thin version of the Galaxy S25. Samsung also displayed what looked to be mockups of the Galaxy S25 Edge after the launch event. Adam Doud of SlashGear managed to obtain images of these mockups, which once more demonstrate the appearance of this new gadget.

Longtime Samsung fans will be aware that the company has previously used the “Edge” name for smartphones with curved screens, even if we currently don’t know much about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s specifications and other characteristics. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the company’s final smartphone to use the Edge name, was actually released in 2016, almost ten years ago. The company hasn’t released a product under the Edge name in a long time.
Curved screens to accommodate flagships that are thinner?

The Galaxy S25 Edge seems to be a more compact version of the regular Samsung Galaxy S25 model, based on what we can deduce from the teaser photos and the mockup displayed at the event. This is a significant change from the company’s previous “Edge” devices, which got their name from their curved screens.
TikTok’s parent business is in serious conversations regarding a transaction, board member says
Prior speculation suggested that Samsung was in fact preparing to release a more compact version of the S25 series, with a 6.4-inch screen display. This places the gadget squarely between the 6.2-inch Galaxy S25 and the 6.7-inch Galaxy S25+ in terms of display size.

The Galaxy S25 Edge will have a dual camera setup, though the specifics are still unknown, according to the teaser video and the mockup. It’s interesting to note that earlier rumors suggested the phone would have three cameras. That no longer appears to be the case.
The potential effect on battery life of choosing a sleek design for premium smartphones such as the S25 series is one of the main issues. Did Samsung have to sacrifice battery life in order to create a compact phone, considering that these powerful phones need large-capacity batteries to stay charged throughout the day?

However, having a completely new device series helps inject some excitement into an otherwise uninteresting launch event, especially because the majority of the Galaxy S25 series’ improvements are incremental. Additionally, considering that Apple also intends to release the iPhone Air, a smaller iPhone, we may witness a competition between the two industry titans for supremacy in tiny smartphones in 2025.
