Here is Acer Helios 18 Review, and Feature with Price

Acer Helios 18 Build Quality and Design

The Helios 18 has an impressive build quality, with little keyboard flex and a solid metal lid. 18-inch screen, though making the telephone bigger and heavier, enhances the gaming experience. Notably, while typing, a laptop can wobble slightly due to its ability to accommodate a larger screen. The Helios is also larger and heavier at over 7lb (3.2kg) and as much as 9.9lb (4.5kg) with its 330-watt charger when compared to its 18-inch counterparts such as the ASUS Scar 18 and Razer’s Blade 18.

Acer Helios 18 Performance.

Helios 18 is configured with an Intel Core i9- 13900HX processor, Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics, 32GB of memory, and an 18-inch screen which is really a powerful and beast combo for gaming, streaming, or editing. However, Acer provides cheaper options with the RTX 4060 and 4070 variants. It also has Nvidia’s latest graphics card to give an unrivaled gaming experience.

Acer Helios 18 Keyboard

The Helios 18 has a per-key RGB backlit keyboard for the ability to light up with personally desired colors. This gives the keys a slight clicky feel, which improves the entire typing experience. Impressively large and smooth, the touchpad deftly supports myriad gestures and functions.

Acer Helios 18 Ports and Connectivity

As for the matter of connectivity, the Helios 18 is a strong performer. There is a gigabit ethernet, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a MicroSD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack located on the left side. On the right, there are two USB Type-A ports 2 and a Kensington lock. The rear side has power input, HDMI 2.1 output, and two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, providing a range of connectivity options.

Acer Helios 18 Internal Configuration

14 TR6 screws need to be removed to access the internals. The battery, memory slots, M.2 storage slots, and Wi-Fi 6E card are inside. The tested configuration consists of two 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSDs in RAID 0, which provides fast read and write speeds.

Acer Helios 18 Audio and Battery

The laptop’s speakers at its front provide an average audio quality with slight bass. However, latency results were disappointing, just like in many laptops this year. Unplugged, the use of the Helios 18 is powered by a 4-cell 90Wh battery with options for eco or balanced modes. Unfortunately, battery life proved disappointing in our tests, especially during gaming sessions, highlighting the concession for power in an 18-inch form factor.

Helios 18 Thermal Management

The laptop’s thermals performed fine during stress tests, and different performance modes were offered through Predator Sense software. The Helios 18 is better in gaming and its screen is impressive at 18 inches, but it only has a drawback; since it is bigger, the noise from the fan is increased too. On the one hand, one wonders whether one sacrifices portability for the bigger screen.

Acer Helios 18 Price

At the time of this article, the Helios 18 price starts from $1700 USD, and configurations with RTX 4080 are available at $2200 USD. The price is based on the larger 18-inch design commanding a premium price. Potential buyers must consider their willingness to sacrifice portability and fan noise against the screen size choices.
