Pre-registration for Carmen Sandiego, a brand-new puzzle game that will launch on Netflix Games via iOS and Google Play at the end of January 2025, is being opened by Netflix to start the year.
Early in September 2024, the game’s Netflix Games release was initially announced and confirmed. It was also made available on other platforms, such as the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam. “It features all of the investigative fun of the original core game loop (collecting clues and tracking VILE operatives around the world) combined with brand new on-the-ground immersive exploration of cities,” the game’s development team told IGN when they spoke with them.
A fresh press release from Gameloft today states that Netflix will release the game on January 28th before any other platform. After that, on March 4th, 2025, it will be made available on additional platforms, and in late April, it will be physically released.
Many fans have expressed their opinions about the game since its first release, with many considering it controversial because Carmen is assisting the police, something she has previously been known to do the exact opposite of. One user on IGN commented, “You’re not supposed to play or even sympathize with Carmen, she’s a master thief.” They also added, “This strange notion that we need to get her motivation (yes, I watched the show with my daughter, and even she got bored) doesn’t have to happen with every villain.”
Although the Netflix Game URL, which will take you to the Google Play store or iOS app store, isn’t operational at the time of posting, pre-registration for the new game is anticipated to open soon.
Earlier, Netflix was developing a live-action Carmen Sandiego movie to be aired in conjunction with the four seasons of the animated series, which were created by WildBrain and HarperCollins Productions. To create this new mobile game, the latter is also collaborating with Gameloft. This is the second major Gameloft game that is accessible on Netflix Games, following Asphalt Xtreme, which was released in November 2021. Sniper Fury, Disney Magic Kingdoms, Minion Rush, and Ice Age Adventures are a few more games of which the French company is renowned.
