The future of Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback for the New York Jets is still uncertain, as the team’s record stands at 3-8.
Nevertheless, during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, the four-time MVP chose to address the speculation and reports surrounding his future with Gang Green. He stated that he hasn’t decided if he wants to participate in 2025.
Rodgers said to McAfee and the team, “I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York would be my first option.”
Additionally, Rodgers refuted rumours that he would prefer to play for another team next season rather than the Jets.
“As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I want to play in 2025 and not on the Jets,” he stated. “That is just untrue. In fact, I said the exact opposite. I stated that I would wait and see what transpired at the conclusion of the season, whether they wanted me back, what happened with Jeff Ulbrich, the interim head coach, the offensive staff, and the general manager at the time. Joe was just fired.
“I’ve had a great experience in New York, but there are a lot of factors that are beyond my control. It goes without saying that we haven’t achieved the success that we all desired. On the team, though, I’ve formed some wonderful friendships. Living in Jersey, spending time in the city, and getting to know the supporters have all been enjoyable experiences for me. And my goal in coming here was to win. Therefore, I’m not just hopping off the ship and saying, “Oh, I really want to play, but not in New York.”

McAfee dissected the claims prior to his remarks, pointing out that there were tense connections between Rodgers and the Jets at One Jets Drive and that the team is hoping to move on from the soon-to-be 41-year-old signal caller for the upcoming season.
“It’s all true,” added Rodgers mockingly as he laughed. “My circle is pretty small when it comes to me. I don’t converse with those who do so with [reporters]. I don’t have any ties with reporters who will break stories like this, so it’s at best a third game of telephone with me.”
According to reports, Rodgers is well aware that the Jets are about to enter a new administration, therefore as he stated, he cannot control everything.
In terms of what 2025 holds for him, Rodgers will be taking things one game at a time. The Jets still have six games left on the schedule after the bye week.
“You’re obviously nearing the end of your career when you’re forty-one or forty-one, so if it’s New York, they must want me here. Then, the new general manager and the new staff must want me to join the Jets. After that, I need to assess my physical condition and decide whether or not to sign up to resume my work,” he stated.
After suffering an Achilles tear in 2023, Rodgers has been dealing with a number of injuries, including knee, hamstring, and ankle problems this season. According to NFL Network, Rodgers is even afraid of having to leave the field to get any scans.
According to Rodgers, there hasn’t been a requirement to undergo scans for his injuries; instead, his positive rapport with the Jets’ medical team has prompted discussions about how his body feels. After 20 years in the game, Rodgers is certain he understands when he is ready to play.
